Would you like to change a life forever? Support our One Less Barrier campaign and give families and individuals a fair chance at thriving by helping them eliminate past-due rent. This campaign will support families and individuals facing financial hardship and fuel Compass’s vital work to end the cycle of homelessness in our community. By working together, we can reduce a significant barrier to economic stability and prevent families and individuals from becoming homeless.
Picture yourself in the shoes of a mother or father struggling to make ends meet for their family. Your mind is constantly racing to determine which bills to pay and which bills to hold off on. Imagine having to choose between paying for a loved one’s medical procedure or covering past-due rent after losing your job due to COVID. This is the reality many of our neighbors continue to face. We may not be able to remove every barrier overnight, but we can partner with dedicated supporters like you to create a way forward with one less barrier.
By donating to our One Less Barrier campaign, you can support hundreds of families and individuals working to escape debt. Our goal is to raise $1.9 million to waive outstanding rent across our housing programs and provide meaningful resources and support to promote stability for our neighbors in need. Thanks to a dollar-for-dollar match of up to $700,000 from the City of Seattle, your donation will go even further.
Studies show that lingering debt can impact an individual’s motivation, mental wellness, and perception of self-worth. By waiving past-due rent, we’re not just reducing a financial barrier but a psychological one as well, increasing the resident’s chance of successfully completing their journey towards stability. Your contribution helps us provide the funds needed to eliminate past-due rent and provide impactful resources to give families and individuals a fresh start.
Consider the impact on residents like Maria, who fell behind on rent while caring for her aging parents. Despite her best efforts, she struggled to catch up while still providing for her family’s basic needs. With the help of our Compass community, Maria received the support she needed to stay in her home and care for her parents. Stories like Maria’s remind us why our work is vital and how your contributions directly impact lives.
Everyone falls on hard times and faces challenges in life. For some of our neighbors, overcoming those challenges is only possible when we come together as a community to walk alongside them. We believe that everyone deserves a home, and that includes working to prevent people from losing theirs. Your support can provide hope, stability, and dignity to families and individuals in need.
Please join us in our work to significantly reduce financial and psychological barriers for hundreds of residents across Bothell, Kenmore, Shoreline, Seattle, SeaTac, Renton, and Auburn. With your help, we can give families and individuals a chance to thrive in their homes and their communities.
