Jan & Peter’s Place Women’s Shelter serves our community by:
- Providing 31 shelter beds for female-identifying people ages 18 and older
- Offering 24-hour access to a safe space and supports
- On-site housing navigation support, case management services, and skill set development opportunities

Jan & Peter’s Place Women’s Shelter provides a safe, warm place to sleep each night for 31 homeless women. Previously known as Hammond House, Jan & Peter’s Place has expanded its services as a 24/7 Enhanced Shelter program. Our enhanced shelter model removes several barriers for people transitioning off the street by partnering overnight shelter with 24/7 on-site support services and intensive case management including housing navigation services.
Access to Jan & Peter’s Place is by referral only through the City of Seattle’s HOPE team. Compass staff can connect anyone in need with the HOPE team, just visit Compass’s Multi-Service Center in Pioneer Square (210 Alaskan Way S, open Monday through Friday, 9am – 4pm).
Jan & Peter’s Place has been named in honor of Jan and Peter Shapiro, longtime friends of Compass Housing Alliance. Learn more.
