Today we’d like to share a few words from our Board President Paul Hogle (seen below dressed up as Santa for our residents in 2018) about why he is dedicated to a world in which everyone has a place to belong in a safe, caring community.
“I’m very grateful to be a part of an organization like Compass Housing Alliance, especially as it reaches its 100-year anniversary. When I was 6 years old, my family was given 24 hours to leave our home in Seattle. I remember that day asking my mom where we would go. We were lucky to have family in the area and moved in with my Grandma until we could find another home.
Not everyone is so lucky.
This childhood memory, the feeling of not having a stable home, stuck with me. This experience made me realize that at any time a situation could change our lives and without family support, what would we have done? As a long-time Board of Directors volunteer, I have been able to see the great amount of need of those who do not have a safety net and that is why I volunteer and give to Compass.
This organization helps some of the most vulnerable individuals and families in our area. The stories of the clients Compass serves and the positive outcomes that this organization generates inspire me to continually support this organization with my whole heart.”
