It was a beautiful day in the Broadview neighborhood of Seattle when Compass Housing Alliance held the grand opening of Compass Broadview on April 12, 2019.
Guests gathered in the courtyard near the new children’s play structure to hear from key partners in the building’s development.
Speakers included Pastor Julie Hutson from Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, who sold part of their land to Compass Housing so that we could build the new permanent affordable housing property; Debbie Burkhart from National Equity Fund; Nick Petty from Capital One; Diem Ly from Comcast NBCUniversal; and Principal RJ Sammons from Broadview Thomson school.
Comcast Washington partnered with Compass Housing to provide a media room with state-of-the-art computers where residents can update their resumes, fill out job applications, and more. There will also be a mobile tech center featuring laptops and audio/visual equipment that can be used throughout Compass Broadview in support of educational goals, employment training, life skills classes, financial stability classes, and valued community connections. Additionally, Comcast Washington gave all Broadview units the internet essentials program that will help each household connect to the internet, building self-sufficiency along the way. Comcast truly made an investment in our community by ensuring access to technology for families who need it most.
After the presentation, guests toured two units at Compass Broadview to see what our residents’ new homes look like. On the third floor, a two-bedroom unit was staged with beautiful furniture and decor by Spade & Archer. Spade and Archer Design Agency is home staging company in Seattle and Portland and specializes in obtainable and aspirational design. As part of the Seattle business community, they are proud to support Compass projects. Having the unit staged made it possible for our guests to envision families living and thriving at Compass Broadview.
We are excited to see how the new community at Compass Broadview develops and grows as the new neighbors support each other in reaching their goals and settling in. Check out our other photos of the event in the slideshow below!
